Three easy classroom experiments
Experiments with water, air and plants using things you already have.
Science sticks best when pupils see it happen.
1. Float or sink? Collect objects and let pupils guess first. Then discuss why some float.
2. Air takes up space Push an upside-down glass into a bowl of water with paper in the bottom. The paper stays dry.
3. The growing bean Put a bean on damp kitchen paper in a jar. Draw it every day in a log book.
Have pupils write a hypothesis, result and conclusion – the same method scientists use.
